Shah Group (named after the “Shah” family name of the founder) started its business activities in 1937 as a civil engineering, construction, and contracting company. From 1968–1975, activities were temporarily paused. In 1976, it resumed operations through **Shah Islam Construction Ltd.**, which became a leading construction and contracting firm in Bangladesh. The company successfully completed major national projects such as the **Siddhirganj 210 MW Thermal Power Plant (BPDB)**, **IPSAs 16-building complex under USAID**, **Fertilizer Warehouse (12,000 MT)** financed by the World Bank, **Bangladesh Bank office in Khulna**, **Dhaka International Airport Biman’s Administration Building**, and several hospitals including the **National Eye Hospital**, **Cancer Hospital**, and **TB Hospital** under PWD.

In 1982, Shah Group diversified into the industrial sector by establishing **Shah Jute and Plastic Processing Industry Ltd.**, the first jute laminating and processing plant in Bangladesh. Over the years, the Group expanded further, founding and acquiring industries like **Shah Jute Diversifying Industry**, **Epsilon Plastic Bagging Industry**, **Somrat Fashion**, **Total Air Services Ltd.**, **Total Apparel Ltd.**, **Total Communication Ltd.**, **Total Management Services Ltd.**, **Total Hi-Tech Security Ltd.**, **Shah Poultry & Agro**, and **Dhaka Jute Mills Ltd.**

These ventures were eventually brought together under the umbrella of **Shah Group**, forming a dynamic and diversified conglomerate.

Currently, Shah Group is engaged in **infrastructure development**, **construction**, **power plants**, **real estate**, **aviation**, **human resource**, **hospitality**, **data processing & management**, **sports and apparel production**, **aluminum fabrication**, **information technology**, **stock trading**, **security services**, **cargo scanning**, **jute processing**, and **international trading**.

Diversification:
Shah Group continues to expand into areas such as **infrastructure project development under PPP/BOO/BOT/JVCA models**, **IT/ITES**, **service-based industries**, **international trading**, **aviation**, and **tourism**.

Over the years, the Group has strategically optimized its workforce. Currently, **over 1,200 skilled professionals** are contributing to the Group’s diverse companies, ensuring excellence, innovation, and integrity in every sector.
