Shah Group (named as “Shah” family name of the founder, started business activities during 1937 as civil engineering, construction and contracting business. From 1968-1975, company activity was paused. In the year 1976, started its business activities by Shah Islam Construction Ltd. which was the leading construction and contracting company in the country. Successfully completed large projects such as Siddhirganj 210 MW Thermal Power Plant of BPDB, Construction of 14 Nos. 5-toried & 2 Nos. 3-storied total 16 building of IPSA under USAID, 12000MT of Fertilizer Ware House under World Bank finance in Khulna, Bangladesh Bank Multi Storied office building in Khulna, Dhaka International Airport Biman's Administration Building, 500-bed National Eye Hospital at Dhaka under P.W.D., 250-bed Cancer Hospital at Dhaka under P.W.D., 250-bed TB Hospital at Dhaka under P.W.D and many more. The Group started diversifying its business in the field of industry by establishing jute laminating and processing industry for the first time of its kind in Bangladesh in the name of “Shah Jute and Plastic Processing Industry Ltd.” in the year 1982 and gradually established and acquired couple of more industries like Shah Jute Diversifying Industry, Epsilon Plastic Bagging Industry, Somrat Fashion, Total Air Services Ltd., Total Apparel Ltd., Total Communication Ltd., Total Management Services Ltd., Total Hi-Tech Security Ltd., Shah Poultry and Agro and Dhaka Jute Mills Ltd. After then all the companies grouped under the Shah Group by forming Group of Company. Shah Group currently involved in project development in the field of infrastructure development, construction, Power Plant, Real Estate, Aviation, Human resource, Hospitality Management, Data processing & management, sports and athletic products, comfort apparels supplied to chain stores worldwide, specialized aluminum fabricating, information technology, stock trading, security service, cargo scanning, jute processing and international trading. Diversification: Shah Group presently diversifying its activities especially in the field of infrastructure project development under PPP/BOO/BOT/JVCA, IT/ITES, service business, international trading, aviation and tourism. Workforce: The large number of work force of the Shah Group has been reduced in the last few years. Currently there are total 1200 employees are engaged with the Shah Group in different companies.
